*Clearly, the title needs a little work. Suggestions welcome.
This week I’m kicking off a series of posts where I round-up all the cool stuff I’ve discovered that week (that don’t quite justify an entire post on their own).
This week, I’m loving…
Etsy prints
I’ve got renewed love for Etsy at the moment, and bought a couple of prints on there last week. I live by the saying ‘ Do What You Love, Love What You Do’, so the print on the right by nikimilns, was a must buy. I also picked up a Social Media Propaganda poster by Justonescarf for my little office when we finally move into the house.
2011 Freelance Industry Report.
This landed in my inbox this week, and it makes an interesting read (despite most of the participants in the study coming from over the pond). It’s particularly good to hear that the report echoes an infographic I posted recently, indicating that freelancers are generally happier, better off financially and wouldn’t choose to go back into employed work.
MyNetwork: the social network set up by news4media.
Most journalists and PRs will be familiar with the news4media network, with mini-sites like beauty4media, entertainment4media and home4media. For those that haven’t, it’s a great way of connecting journalists and bloggers with PRs and their press releases. The company has now launched a social network to further this relationship building. You can connect with other journalists, editors and PRs, and you’ve also got the opportunity to share your latest blog posts/article with the community.
Mini ice cream chocolates
My parents have been working really hard on the latest exclusive product for the Chocoholics Winter 2011 range, so I wanted to pimp it out a bit (after all, what’s the point of having a blog if you can’t help your family out from time to time?) It’s called the Chocoholics Ice Cream Parlour, and it has flavours including pistachio, raspberry ripple, banana split, lemon gelato, chocolate orange and chocolate brownie.
You can order them from the newly re-launched website.
Videolicious
I’ve agreed to do a short video for a friend on blogging and how the relationship between PRs and bloggers can be improved. I’m bricking it.
I don’t have any experience of video blogging and editing, but it’s something I’ve been meaning to learn for a while. I’ve just got to get over the whole ‘I hate my voice/face on video’ thing.
Anyway, I’ve found a little app that should make it as easy as possible – Videolicious. It lets you add your chosen images, choose your background music then record your video. Hit save and it creates the video for you, complete with fancy effects. If you’re a little more tech-savvy, iMovie is another smart (if not free) choice.
What are your favourite finds of the week?
p.s I’ve got a Facebook page now if you prefer to get the latest blog updates in your news feed. You can ‘like’ it using the box on the right, or by clicking on this link to my Facebook page. Don’t forget, I’m also on Twitter too.
